Inspector Delyth Cunnah is the senior officer in charge of this area.

The Perth Territorial area includes all the towns and villages in the Carse of Gowrie which are policed from the Longforgan Police Office. Further Police Offices are situated in Bridge of Earn, Stanley and Methven to serve the communities to the west and north of the city of Perth.

The area is expansive with over 2 dozen significant villages and towns from Invergowrie in the east, Abernethy to the south, Methven and the Sma Glen in the west and Bankfoot to the north.

The officers in these locations deal with a number of rural policing matters, as well as looking after some of the main arterial roadways in the form of the M90, A90 and A9. Much of the population are commuters to Perth, Dundee and further afield Edinburgh and Glasgow.

All officers are encouraged to have contact with the public at every opportunity, and provide high visibility patrols for public reassurance. Frequently action plans are put in place when problems occur in some of the towns and villages, with officers taking action on any antisocial residents. Excellent use is made of the Special Constabulary to assist in patrolling this section. The commitment of these officers is second to none and they help in maintaining the Perth Territorial section as a sought-after place to live.

Attending Community Council meetings to be available to address local concerns is a core function of the officers. Currently a number of the villages are increasing in population quite rapidly with new houses being erected almost on a weekly basis in many areas. This will cause further policing challenges in the future.

The Carse of Gowrie in particular is a popular area with migrant workers who seek employment in the agricultural sector, mainly the soft fruit industry.

The A9 north from Perth takes us into some of Scotland's best tourist country, as does a trip into the Almond valley to the west. Many sought-after fishing beats run through the section, as well as shooting and other sporting activities.

The officers staffing this policing sector are multi-skilled with firearms, search and rescue, hostage negotiation, custody care, family liaison, crime management and control room duties being skills they are also called upon to perform.

The protection of the public in this policing sector is their core duty and one they are all dedicated to.
