Tayside Police accepts applications from serving police officers from recognised police forces in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the British Transport Police.

Successful applicants will be those who have at least three years service* and can demonstrate that they have something to offer this Force. Applications from officers above the rank of Constable will be considered but this will be on a case by case basis and will also be dependant upon the requirements of the Force at the time of application.

* In exceptional circumstances officers with less than three years service may be considered as long as there is sufficient proof of their suitability.

To apply you must submit a completed national application form stating the reason for your application and what you feel you can offer Tayside Police.

On receipt of a suitable application form we will contact your home force requesting copies of your last three appraisals, your sickness record and a report from your Professional Standards Unit.

If the above information is satisfactory you will be given a Senior Officer Interview conducted by two Senior Officers of at least Chief Inspector rank. For applicants at a rank above Inspector at least one member of the Force Executive will be part of the interview panel and the selection process may also contain other elements including a presentation.

If you successfully complete the above stage you will be required to attend a medical and references will be sought and vetting carried out. Although there is no fitness test for transferees at present you will be required to be operationally fit.

Successful applicants will be taken on at a time that is suitable to Tayside Police and you can be posted to anywhere within the organisation.

Transferees joining who are not from a Scottish Force will be required to attend the transferee course run by the Scottish Police College and which is run twice a year (spring and autumn). Transferees requiring this course will therefore likely be recruited at these times.

Although transferee applications are welcomed we are looking for a high calibre of candidate and therefore you should not assume you will be automatically accepted.
