The Performance Management Unit is responsible for producing information outlining key performance results across a wide range of service areas within the organisation and working with its partner agencies.

Drawing upon existing data sources, key performance measures are used to track changes. Results are communicated to managers, staff, partners and the public via a range of performance publications.

The unit's objectives are

  • To measure and evaluate Tayside Police activity in relation to its planned objectives. To communicate performance results to targeted audiences.
  • To monitor, evaluate and continuously improve the performance management systems and public performance reporting capability of Tayside Police.
  • To contribute to Strategic and Corporate planning processes to maximise their robustness and effectiveness
The unit presently represents the Force at meetings of ACPOS Working Groups, Committees and similar bodies with an interest in performance management, assesses developments arising and makes recommendations as to their impact on the Force.

It engages with a variety of agencies at local and national level. It is committed to exploiting further opportunities for combining resources in this way in order to deliver our service in the most effective and efficient manner.

The unit is customer driven by necessity, and its aim is to promote and support a performance management culture which demonstrates continuous improvement in the service Tayside Police delivers to the general public.
