| Early History of the Pipe Band |

There were only two other police pipe bands in Scotland at the time, one in Govan and one in Edinburgh. Initially, band members had no uniforms, funds or equipment other than the bagpipes owned by individual members of the force. There was however no lack of enthusiasm, and through fundraising concerts and donations, uniforms were soon purchased. 
The original members were
