Mr Douglas Cross joined Tayside Police as Director of Corporate Services in 1994 from Tayside Regional Council, where he was employed as
Principal Accountant in the Finance Department.
He is the business manager of Tayside Police with responsibility for the provision and delivery of a range of corporate services including finance, ICT, procurement, contracts, legal services, estates and fleet management. Mr Cross has also been responsible for establishing a robust Best Value and Continuous Improvement system to ensure services are provided in an efficient and cost effective manner and the Force meets its efficiency savings targets. In recent times, Mr Cross assumed responsibility for financial matters relating to policing of the G8 World Leaders Summit held at Gleneagles in July 2005. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), he is the Force's designated Finance Officer and represents the Force on a number of ACPOS Committees and working groups. He assumed the role of Chair of the ACPOS Finance Management Business Area in July 2007 and during his tenure as Secretary of this Business Area had been involved in a number of reviews including the GAE Distribution Formula and Common Police Services. In addition, he regularly presents financial information to the Scottish Government in support of ACPOS funding requirements including preparation and presentation of a needs assessment as part of the Spending Review process. Prior to entering local government, Mr Cross worked in the private sector where he held a number of senior posts and directorships. Mr. Cross was awarded the OBE in 2006, for services to the Police. |
