One of the principal aims of Tayside Police is to prevent crime. A crime prevented means at least one less
person has become a victim of crime, one less crime has to be investigated. This allows valuable resources
and time to be saved and channelled elsewhere.
Tayside Police place a high priority on maintaining and improving the partnerships which exist between the police, the community, and other agencies to reduce and prevent crime. Our aim is to provide a quality of service which contributes towards the maintenance of our communities which are safe, tranquil and low in crime. SECURED CAR PARKS The Secured Car Park scheme is an initiative to encourage those responsible for car parks to improve security standards as a means of reducing criminal activity, the fear of crime and the perception of crime in all types of car park and vehicle retention areas. The Scottish Executive and the British Parking Association support the scheme. The scheme aims to provide owners, operators and developers of all car parks guidance on how to establish and maintain a safe and secure environment. Car parks which have introduced effective measures to create a safe and secure environment, which reduce public fears and restrict opportunities for crime to be committed, are certified.
