Dundee, which is policed by Central Division, has a population of 144,000 and is the regional centre for Tayside.

It is situated on the estuary of the River Tay and is well placed for easy access to Scotland's other major cities. Dundee has a main railway station, a busy port and a thriving regional airport with daily flights to London as well as convenient road links to the rest of Scotland.

Central Division covers the entire City of Dundee. Chief Superintendent Colin McCashey has overall responsibility for the Division.

He assisted by his Command Team, Superintendent Colin MacKay, Chief Inspector (Operations) Kevin Lynch, Chief Inspector (Support) Lorna Robbie and Detective Chief Inspector William Semple.

The Divisional Road Policing Unit is led by Inspector Gordon Taylor.

Policing any city involves a diverse range of issues including nuisance, disorder, vandalism, drugs misuse, thefts and traffic problems, and Dundee is no exception. Local operational matters in Dundee are devolved to the Inspectors of the 5 Sections to deliver a 24-hour service at a local level.

Tayside Police work in partnership with the local authority, statutory, non-statutory and public bodies to find long term and sustainable solutions to any problems our communities may face. The Sections, along with specialist departments operating across the Division, aim to provide a high quality service making Dundee a safe place in which to live, work and visit.

The Command Team is based in Force Headquarters, West Bell Street, Dundee.
